reset mysql password

open terminal

#>sudo service mysqld stop

#>sudo mysqld_safe –skip-grant-tables

open another terminal

#>mysql -u root

mysql>show databases;

mysql>use mysql;

mysql>UPDATE user SET Password=PASSWORD(‘password’) WHERE User=’root’;

mysql>FLUSH PRIVILEGES;

mysql> /q

now run command in first terminal that as follows

#>sudo service mysqld start
